Acoustic musicians know that nothing conveys the full energy and feeling of their work like live performance. Melville Park Studio does digital multi-track recording of live concerts.

Melville Park Studio will record your live performance direct to digital multi-track, bypassing the "house" board so that the recording can be mixed in the studio

This is the same way "major label" live albums are recorded!

Live recordings by Melville Park Studio appear on albums by Vance Gilbert, Lori McKenna, Jess Klein, Kerri Powers, Scott Alarik, Kevin So, Tim Mason and many others.

  • I can routinely handle up to 16 tracks.
  • I use a 24-bit hard disk digital recorder, connected optically to two 8-channel mic preamps. My setup can be expanded to 24 tracks when needed.
  • Mixing and editing can be done anywhere you want. There's no obligation to use Melville Park Studio.

My fee is $45/hour, and includes travel, setup, sound check, packup, tape, and the time tape is rolling. There is no charge for intermissions, other artist's sets, or other "down" time.

Live recording can be a very time & cost-effective way to acquire songs for albums, demos, and self-evaluation

With Melville Park Studio you get true multi-track recording, and can use any studio you want afterward, making live recording especially convenient.

Melville Park also records weekly at the Club Passim Open Mike in Cambridge.
See the Open Mike Flyer for details.
